Classic Fic Rec Monday

Hey everyone, that's right its Monday and time for our Classic Fic Recs. This weeks Rec is...

Edward Cullen is an Army brat, who has his entire life planned out perfectly, and can't wait to get out of this utterly dull town of Forks, WA. But then a whirlwind in the form of Bella Swan enters his life… AU/AH, some OOC

When Bella’s dad, Charlie, decides to relocate them to place where the crime rate is low, Bella was extremely unhappy. Coming from a city where you can get easily lost in a crowd to a small town where everybody knew your business before you even knew it yourself, was difficult for Bella. Bella worried about being ridiculed for being the “police chief’s’ daughter and not making any friends.

On her first day of school, a petite girl named, Alice, approaches Bella and immediately begins to ask her questions about herself and her drawings. Alice takes Bella under her wing and introduces her to her friends.

Once we arrived however, Alice insisted on introducing me to her friends, even though I really had not intended to make myself so known. But she assured me it was a small group of people and that they would just 'love me'.
To be perfectly clear, there was nothing about that day that would have given me any indication that there was something different or extraordinary about it. No funny feelings, planets out of alignment or anything ridiculous like that. Just an ordinary day of a high school freshman. But as we walked toward the park behind to the school, I was somehow able to ignore the excited squeal of the girl beside me as he came into my view. His bronze hair gave off a slight glow from the morning sun that had actually broken through the clouds and rain for a moment, his head turning toward us and exhaling a drag from a cigarette as we approached. Just then, something happened to me that had never happened before.

My breath hitched in my throat and my heart started racing at the sight of a guy.
He waited a moment for me to say something, but when all I seemed to be able to manage was continuing to stare at him, his brow knitted together. "Do I have something on my face?" he asked sarcastically, and then began to chuckle when I looked away in embarrassment.

Alice rolled her eyes from her perch around her boyfriend, Jasper's waist. She was so tiny; it was probably no effort at all for him to hold her there with her legs wrapped around him. "Edward, you must excuse my friend here. Seems the cat has a good hold on that tongue of hers," she said with a giggle as I decided that ignoring her, or at least trying to, was my best option. "This is Bella Swan by the way."

Edward and Bella eventually hit it off and become best friends. As Bella and Edward’s friendship grows, so does the attraction they have for one another. They both secretly keep their attraction to themselves and hope that no one will find out, their friends however have another agenda. After several unsuccessful attempts of setting them up on a date, Bella and Edward’s friends give it one more shot.

We were in the theater for less than five minutes when Alice announced that she wanted some popcorn for the movie, insisting that Jasper come with her. Bella stood to go with them but they assured her they would grab her something and told us to save the seats. She shrugged her shoulders casually and leaned her head against my arm. As the trailers began rolling, Alice and Jasper still hadn't returned and Emmett and Rosalie had never made an appearance at all. Bella began stealing glances over to the door and when the movie actually began, I heard her chuckle and she leaned over to my ear. "I think it's safe to say we've been set up."
I glanced to the two empty seats on her left, and the two on my right and I shook my head. "They are never going to give up, are they?" I said as calmly as possible, making a mental note to strangle the three culprits at the earliest convenience.
Bella was silent for a moment and when I looked over at her, she was staring directly at me; those beautiful doe eyes lightly illuminated by the screen. "Well, there is one way to get them to lay off," she said softly, still holding my gaze. I felt her hand slide through the crook of my arm until it rested in my palm. Our fingers laced together until I enveloped her tiny hand in mine. "We could give this date thing a try and when it doesn't work out, we can tell them to leave us alone. And we can go back to life as usual."

I tried to keep the hurt expression from my face with the words 'when it doesn't work out', and it helped knowing that it was true. We were far better off as friends, exactly the way we always were and I wasn't going to risk losing her. She was as necessary in my life as air and water; I could and would not live without her. I smiled at her and nodded in agreement with her plan, and with the hushing noises by the people behind us, turned back to the movie.

The date goes off successfully, in Bella and Edward’s friends eyes. To Bella and Edward, the date was embarrassing, a total disaster... and the best night of their lives.

It takes awhile for our stubborn best friends to finally open their eyes and wake up to the espresso. They DO eventually get their act together after a little bit of drama and angst, one HUGE panic attack, and one relationship that goes bad.

Anything But Conventional” is an awesome story to read. You will be instantly sucked into the drama and angst. By halfway through, you will want to smack Bella and Edward’s heads together in hopes that they will get over it already and end the madness. Whereas, by the end of the story, you will be crying your eyes out… I know I did!

Anything But Conventional” may be a completed fic, but there is a sequel! Yeah!!!!! “Don’t Ever Forget” picks up right where “Anything But Conventional” left off and is ongoing with 6 chapters live. I can’t wait for the next chapter update! I can’t wait to see what happens next and to see if Bella and Edward can survive the distance they are dealt with and the hardships along the way.

Anything But Conventional” is a definite must read classic!

The beast tamed a bit thriving in the fact he or we’d been Bella’s first, until Alice tackled Bella to the ground. The urge to rip her head off had me snarling and growling our displeasure of someone touching her. I flinched one muscle toward them when Jasper leapt on my back pinning me to the ground.

Pulling my head back by my hair, he demanded my attention. “Just watch. They’re not fighting.”

I looked back, groaning at the sight before me. Alice had flipped Bella over. She laid nestled between Bella’s legs palming her perfect, perky breasts. “Alice,” slipped from Bella’s rosy pout as she raked her hands through her hair, pulling Alice flush against the creamy flesh.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Cullen, what can I do for you today?” Harold Jenk’s eager voice came through the line.

“I asked you to handle an account a while back; to take care of the medical bills of one of my security guards.” Carlisle went straight to the point; he rarely bothered with pleasantries. It wasted so much time, he felt.

“Yes… if I recall correctly, it was a certain Swan family? Yes, I set up an expense account for them, as per your instructions. Have there been any problems, Mr. Cullen?” Harold asked with apprehension. He had inherited the Cullens’ business from his father and would hate to lose his highest paying client over some stupid oversight.

“Did you make it perfectly clear to the family that I had certain expectations with regards to them not blabbing to the media?” Carlisle asked.

“Of course, Mr. Cullen. I explained it quite thoroughly. In fact, I have it on paper too. Mrs. Swan understood and agreed to all conditions, and signed a standard non-disclosure. Has she been talking to the tabloids?”

“Something like that; their daughter wrote an article for a local newsletter. Stupid kids! I want you to handle this immediately, Jenks,” Carlisle instructed.

“Yes, absolutely. The Swans are clearly in violation of the agreement they’d signed. You have very good grounds to bring legal action against them. I will file for a civil suit immediately,” Harold answered enthusiastically, eager to demonstrate his usefulness in managing the Cullen personal finances.

“What? No, don’t be ridiculous! What will I be suing them for? A used bedpan? Use your head, for once.” He didn’t hold back his annoyance at Harold’s stereotypical enthusiasm for frivolous lawsuits.

Carlisle continued in a more calm fashion. “Just cut them off. And let them know in writing why they are being cut off. Close the account.”

Chapter 6 of Music of the Heart by wmr1601

“I know that tone, Isabella Marie,” she chides me. “Remember, you’ve been like a daughter to me since you were six years old; you can’t keep things from me. What’s happened with you? I can just feel it in your tone that there’s something you want to tell me.”

I smile broadly, feeling a bit like the Cheshire cat. “I kind of met someone. I mean, it’s too early to know anything for sure, and of course I wasn’t looking to find someone—I know it’s much too soon—but, oh, Miss Lydia, he’s so… so…” I trail off, sighing.

“Well, tell me about him,” she says, sounding much younger than her sixty years. “Where’d you meet him? What’s his name? What does he do? What did you guys do? And anything else I need to know.” I giggle at her enthusiasm; anyone listening in might think she was a teenager again, just looking for the latest gossip.

“Do you remember the piano music I told you about? That I heard coming from the other side of the wall of my living room?”

“I do. ‘Oh, Miss Lydia, it’s the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard,’” she quotes me.

“Right. Well, that’s him. That’s the guy I met. My neighbor, the piano player.”

“Well, well, well. I like the sound of this already. Music is good for the soul, Bella."

Chapter 13 of Over The Rainbow by Equivamp

“Do you think these Amazons would mind if I stole a couple apples?” I asked Scarecrow.

He shrugged. “I don’t see why they should. Its not like they do a fruit count before they’re picked.”

What happened next was like something out of a bad horror movie. My hand reached out slowly to appreciatively caress a silken apple skin, when I realized that the tree was watching me. What I had disregarded as knots in the bark were actually eyes, eyes that stared, eyes that blinked.

I yelped in shock and leapt back, but the tree was faster. A bare branch whipped through the air, a hand with spindly twig fingers, and wrapped around my wrist.

“What do you think your doing?” a voice came out of the tree in great gravelly bellow.

I had to pee again.

“Let go!” Scarecrow shouted reaching for the twigs wrapped around my wrist.

“Watch out!” I screamed at him, crying in my fear, but my shout wasn’t soon enough.

Another branch, from another tree reached out

Chapter 13 of The Inheritance by iambeagle

"I need to go pick up Seth."

"Okay." Bella shrugged and kept her focus on the cereal she was eating.

"Will you be at Emmett's later?"

"I'm kind of busy later," Bella said easily. She brought the bowl to her lips and gulped down the leftover milk. "Maybe if I get home early enough I can stop by or something."

"Oh." I paused, gauging the tone of her voice. It was off, but I couldn't put my finger on what it was lacking. "What are you going to do?"

Bella stared at me for a second too long before replying. "I have a date."

"A date?" I asked too quietly and too accusingly. My mouth was suddenly too dry and it wasn't cottonmouth. I could only fucking wish. "With, uh...with who?"

Bella rolled her eyes and said, "It's not like you know who he is, so what's the point of knowing his name?"

Well, she had a point. But she also has some fucking nerve. I didn't actually care if Bella went on a date, did I? We never specified, well, anything. I couldn't justify why I was upset over the thought of Bella going on a date with someone else and that pissed me off even more.

"Okay." I cleared my throat. "Have fun with that."

"Don't act like that," Bella scoffed.

"Don't act like what?" I snapped and ran a hand through my hair. "The way you acted when Tanya was waiting for me at Emmett's?"

Bella fell silent.

Can't Walk Away From Friday

After several failed relationships, Bella Swan had never imagined that she would fall for hot-headed, bull riding, Edward Cullen. Will Edward be able to recognize his true feelings for Bella? Can Bella break this wild cowboy or will he never be tamed?

Not yet: 10 chapters in
Yeeeehaw ladies....Saddle up because this week we're riding out to meet a Bull Riding Edward. Complete with Stetson, Cowboys boots and chaps, what more could a girl ask for. With a Marlboro hanging out of his mouth, this dirty talking, bull riding Cowboy is about to steal Bella Swans heart and probably yours too. Neither are looking for love, but but they find it a the rodeo. Bella's visiting the Cody ,Wyoming to see her best friend Alice's boyfriend Jasper  in the calf roping competition at the rodeo. Alice has never gotten along with Jasper's rodeo teammate Edward. After seeing Edward in a very compromising position she warns Bella he nothing but trouble to stay away from him. When Bella and Edwards eyes connect from across the arena  for the first time neither of them could have known how much that one look would change their lives. Sneaking behind Alice's back the couple starting seeing each other. Neither are looking for romance and keep telling themselves over and over it's just a physical relationship. Will they realize it's love before it's to late............

It's funny how things can change in seconds, though. How you can be hotter than crack head's spoon one minute and scared shitless the next? Or how you can be as confused as a hooker is cheap and then all of a sudden you know in your heart exactly how you feel. I had watched Edward get thrown before, but this time something in me ignited when I watched it happen. The bull came down on its front legs, sending him through the air and landing on his front, causing him to slide through the dirt and nearly collide with the wall.

Alice and I both sucked in a breath as we watched him continue to slide, arms and face buried in the dirt.

"Oh my God," I said in a course whisper, waiting for him to get up and run out of the ring to the safety of the gates. He just laid there, though.

"He's not moving Bella," Alice gasped, looking at me with a worried expression.....................

Will Edward walk away this time or it to late? Will Bella ever get the courage to tell Alice she been seeing Edward behind her back?

Read "Riding for the Fall" and find out. As leave a Review.

Slashtastic Thursday with Layne Faire

Oh, this is like stepping in new snow! *SIGHS* So my first post for this new feature on the Twigasm. Each week, I will be bringing you a slashy little one shot, along with a full length story that should not be missed in the fandom. First up this week, a little bit of fun inspired by a banner adoption from the TwiFicPics Banner Garage Sale.

After his ex's betrayal, Jasper had withdrawn into a life of isolation. But one night, stranded by the side of the road, he finds himself rescued in an entirely different way. Slash, M for lemons, AH, Jasper/Emmett

First off, Jasper/Emmett? Definitely not a pairing you see too often, but after reading this little bit of deliciousness, its one I want to read more of!

Jasper is driving home from performing a gig. It’s after midnight, the middle of nowhere, and his old, beloved truck gives up the ghost. Pulling to the side of the road, he checks to see he has no cell phone service. Resigned to spending the night in the truck, he settles in, expecting to find help in the morning. Instead, he is awakened a little while later by the sound of an approaching truck, containing the answer to his prayers—a sexy mechanic in tight jeans. When the mechanic, Emmett, catches him “adjusting” his obvious interest, the fun begins.  The prospect of two days to replace the radiator, and the offer of a barter system to cover the costs, leaves Jasper with only one thought—“when you found a good mechanic it would be foolish to let him go.”

Now, on to our full length choice of the week. It is a current WIP that I was sucked into immediately.

Edward, a tradesman by day, is transfixed by a blue eyed man he meets on the dance floor every Friday night. Jasper has his reasons for hiding who he really is, but Edward wants to show him he can have the best of both worlds. J&E Slash.

Owenic is one of my favorite slash writers. Her amazing ability to convey so much with so few words in her drabble fics never ceases to amaze me. Her latest offering, Best of Both Worlds, is more of the same awesomeness that is becoming synonymous with her penname.

Jasper and Edward, both construction workers, come from diametrically different backgrounds. Edward’s family is supportive of his life choices, whereas Jasper was disowned by family and physically beaten by his co-workers when they discovered he dared to come out. The two meet one night at a club, drawn to each other, but never going beyond dancing together, until the day they end up on the same jobsite. Both determined to protect their privacy at work, they manage to build a relationship. Two back to back crises will test their feelings for each other and the strength of their commitment. Will they be strong enough to survive and truly have the Best of Both Worlds

I know, a very small review, but honestly, I don’t want to go into a ton of details. The intricacies of this story must be read to truly be appreciated.  I hope you’ll give it a shot.

So, that’s it for this week and my very first post! If you know of any slash stories and one shots you’d like to rec, please check in at the Twigasm Forum on FB or tweet them to me at @LayneFaire. Until next week, much love!
